The Gift of Grace Foundation is an incorporated non-profit organization in Canada with a mission to EDUCATE children living on dumpsites in the Philippines, so they can reach their DREAMS and provide for their FAMILIES.
Scavenger families are among the poorest in the Philippines, earning as little as one dollar a day sorting through mountains of trash. Children have little choice but to scavenge alongside their parents, or the family won’t have enough money to buy food.
Through your donations, The Gift of Grace Foundation helps send these children to school. Not only does this redeem their sense of dignity, it also increases their chances of escaping poverty. School is where a future begins. Our vision for the future includes scholarships, on-site educational workshops, skills training, health education, and community education programs. Our belief is when you help families and community leaders, you also help their children.
The Gift of Grace Foundation is inspired by the determination of one 13-year old girl in Cebu, Philippines. Mary-Grace lives and works on the Umapad garbage dump, and her struggle to escape poverty through education is at the centre of a short documentary by GOG Founder Meagan Kelly. Read more about that story here. Kelly is also an alumni Fellow with the Dekeyser & Friends Foundation, an organization providing educational projects to youth around the world.
We currently work in partnership with JPIC-IDC,a registered non-profit organization in the Philippines. They have worked in the region for more than a decade, helping improve the lives of the poor and marginalized in the Philippines.
